What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger
Submitted By: benW
My name is Ben Wood, and I am sixteen years of age. Two months shy of my fifteenth birthday, I sustained a life altering injury which rendered me a c5-c6 quadriplegic. I immediately went from being an extremely active teen, to unable to control my body in the slightest. I spent nearly nine months in Holland Bloorview, and when I was released last summer I had gained a lot of movement, but I still needed help with a lot of day to day activities. It was, (and continues to be) hard for me to accept help from others, as I used to be very independent person. I try to live my life day by day and to maintain as happy as I can be.

I've always loved the colours and composition of this entry - congrats on making the finals. I really like your description as well - from the way I see it, you are still very independent. Needing help sometimes does not denote independence, which can also be independence of thought. Best of luck!
